West Wight is the least populated area of the island, which gives the area a spectacular landscape, with views that spread the width of the island. The largest town in the area is Freshwater, with its beach and shops. The islands most famous landmark, The Needles, is in this area.
Famous poets and writers have made this area home in the past. Lord Alfred Tennyson was a regular visitior to the area, and the famous white cliffs have been named after him, Tennyson Down.
